What the statute says
A registered agent is the person or company the state and the courts send legal papers to. The agent must have a street address in Washington, not a PO box, and be available during business hours. You can be your own agent (A Noncommercial Registered Agent may be an individual, a business, or an office/position within the..., full wording under the statute below).
Annual report and what happens without an agent
The Annual Report is due last day of the month in which the business was originally formed or registered. Fee: $70 for an LLC, $70 for a corporation. Late fee: $25.
Without an agent on file: Failure to file this annual report by your expiration date will result in a $25 delinquency fee and may result in administrative dissolution. (RCW 23.95.255). In practice that means missed lawsuits and a company that can lose its good standing.
