How to change your registered agent in Ohio

What the statute says
Every corporation shall have and maintain an agent, sometimes referred to as the "statutory agent," upon whom any process, notice, or demand required or permitted by statute to be served upon a corporation may be served.
Ohio Rev. Code § 1701.07, read 2026-10-21

A registered agent is the person or company the state and the courts send legal papers to. In Ohio the statute calls this role the statutory agent; it is the same thing as a registered agent. The agent must have a street address in Ohio, not a PO box, and be available during business hours.
