What the statute says
A registered agent for service of any process, notice or demand required or permitted by law to be served upon the limited liability company, which agent may be either an individual, resident of this state, whose business office is identical with such registered office, or a domestic or foreign corporation authorized to do business in this state.
RSMo § 347.030, read 2026-09-08
A registered agent is the person or company the state and the courts send legal papers to. The agent must have a street address in Missouri, not a PO box, and be available during business hours. You can be your own agent (An agent may be either an individual who is a resident of Missouri and whose business office is..., full wording under the statute below).
Annual report and what happens without an agent

The Registration Report (Annual or Biennial) is due last day of the month four months from the entity's renewal month. Fee: not published for an LLC, not published for a corporation. Late fee: not published.
Without an agent on file: When a corporation fails to timely file an annual report, fails to maintain a registered agent, its duration expires or in several other situations, the Secretary of State may administratively dissolve that corporation.. In practice that means missed lawsuits and a company that can lose its good standing.
