Georgia requires every LLC and corporation to keep a registered agent with a Georgia street address. How to change your registered agent in Georgia

What the statute says
Each limited liability company shall continuously maintain in this state: (1) A registered office which may, but need not, be a place of its business in this state; and (2) A registered agent for service of process on the limited liability company.

A registered agent is the person or company the state and the courts send legal papers to. In Georgia the statute calls this role the agent for service of process; it is the same thing as a registered agent. The agent must have a street address in Georgia, not a PO box, and be available during business hours.
Annual report and what happens without an agent
The Annual Registration is due April 1. Fee: $50 for an LLC, $50 for a corporation. Late fee: $25.
Without an agent on file: The LLC may be administratively dissolved if it is without a registered agent or registered office in Georgia for 60 days or more (O.C.G.A. § 14-11-603).
